Beach Trip

Last week we took a girl's trip to the beach with my mom, sisters, and sisters' kids. This was Peanut's first trip to the beach. We had the best time! The biggest difference about being at the beach with a baby is nap time. Because she still takes 3 naps a day, we were back and forth from the beach to the house throughout the day, but luckily our house was close enough to the beach that going back and forth wasn't a big deal. Plus, I have the sweetest mom and sisters to help! Multiple afternoons I went to the beach during Peanut's nap, while someone stayed back with her. This enabled the trip to be both fun AND relaxing. One of my favorite parts of the trip was getting to see all the cousins together. They are all SO sweet to Peanut. She loved being with her cousins, and I loved being with my mom and sisters. Now let the picture overload begin...
First time to the ocean!
She loved the waves!
A few mornings, she had her bottle on the beach after her morning nap so that we could be at the beach with everyone.
One night we attempted some pictures on the beach with Susu. Five kids ages 4 and under is quite the task...I think it is impossible to get all five kids looking at the camera.

I think we get an A for effort! We tried until the kids were out of smiles!

Afternoon reading time with Ev.
She seriously loved watching her cousins. I am so thankful that all these sweet kids get to grow up together.
Monday morning came and we headed home. We were ready to see our daddy-o, but sad to leave the beach. It was a wonderful trip full of delicious food and great company. Until next time, Seagrove!

4 months

This post is a little late --- but better late than never! From 3 months to 4 has seemed to be the biggest month of change so far. We have definitely transitioned out of the newborn stage.

She seems to be growing out of all newborn gadgets, even though I'm still trying to make some work. She scoots off her lounger and when I try to put her in the bouncy seat she arches her back and extends her legs like she is trying to get out. She definitely seems to prefer the bumbo over the bouncy seat. Sometimes I feel like she is trying to tell me "Get me out of here! I'm not a newborn!" I think the next gadget to say goodbye to will be the swing, but I'm not ready yet!

  • At 4 months --- 13 lbs, 9 oz & 25 inches long...50% for weight and 75% for height.
  • In the last month she found her feet...and she wants to hold on to them as often as she can! Her newfound love for her feet makes changing her diaper quite the task!
  • We took the newborn sling out of her bath and she sits up like a big girl. She LOVES to splash!
  • She is doing great with her head control. This opens the door to new fun things - like the jump up!
  • She can sit up when she has good support - in my lap, in a chair, etc.
  • We said goodbye to the swaddle! She is officially in the sleep sack at night and for all her naps. We made the transition to the sleep sack at night about a month ago, but slowly transitioned out of the swaddle.
  • She loves to watch LuLu. She has started holding her hand out when LuLu walks by like she is trying to pet her. We have already had a few episodes where she has "pet" LuLu and ended up grabbing her hair. Thankfully, LuLu is sweet and patient with her.
  • This past weekend (so a week after she turned 4 months) she rolled over! She goes from her back to her tummy. This has been a big development! We had to take the bumpers off of her crib, and in general I feel like I can't let her out of my sight now that she is rolling.
  • She discovered blowing bubbles/spitting and it is one of her favorite things to do. Usually when I go get her out of bed in the morning, she is laying in her crib blowing bubbles.
  • She loves her daddy! Seeing her face light up when he gets home from work is the sweetest thing.

    3 months >>> 4 months!
Four months is a FUN stage. All we are missing in our lives is a good night's sleep. Hopefully that will be coming soon. Even though we aren't sleeping through the night yet, we have so much fun during the day! We sure are thankful for our precious peanut girl.

August Wrap Up

August flew by at our house! It has been a full month! This month was full of new transitions and changes.
I went back to work part-time and Peanut started Mother's Day out a few mornings a week.
We celebrated Honey's birthday. We sure do love our Honey!
Peanut caught her first cold! It has not been fun! Unfortunately, it is still lingering on. Since she has been sick, we have majorly moved backwards as far as the nighttime goes. I'm ready for her cold to hit the road and then we can hopefully get back on track. Her cold definitely effects her the most at night. The only benefit is that we have been getting lots of extra snuggles in!
We went to Memphis for Labor Day and it was great! The weekend was just what I needed to recharge. Fletcher joked that I should take a road trip every afternoon for Peanut's nap...she did great in the car. While we were in Memphis we soaked up lots of time with Susu and my sister's family (yet I didn't get any pictures!) and we even got to see Lace while we were there!
We tried a delicious popsicle place...
And on Saturday, Fletcher and I enjoyed a date while Susu and Pops babysat!
The trip was a wonderful way to close out our month and our summer. Now we are looking forward to cooler temperatures, Auburn football, and some fun Fall road trips!
