January Snippets

After the last few days, I am ready to say goodbye to the month of January. Mostly just to winter in general. The last few days have been crazy in Alabama, but we have a lot to be thankful for. When the snow hit Tuesday, the whole city was taken by surprise. Everything at work shut down, and I attempted to leave work with a co-worker (Fletcher was out at another location). There were cars all over the road. I have never seen anything like it.  We quickly realized that driving was not an option, and my co-worker and I decided to park her car in a safe spot and walk home. Walking home 4 miles in the snow while 27 weeks pregnant, is a memory I will never forget! Fletcher came to meet us (on foot) and walked the last two miles with us. I was so happy when we finally made it home. I am thankful that both Fletcher and I were close enough to walk home, that we both had a co-worker with us, that I happened to have on uggs when I never wear uggs to work, that Fletcher and I were together for some of the trek, and that we were able to walk home before it got dark. God is good and we are thankful! Today the roads slowly began to thaw, and we are hoping to resume life as normal!

Earlier this month we took a trip to Helen, Georgia with some friends. It was such a relaxing getaway. We had a great time with our friends and exploring Helen. The cabbage patch factory was definitely a highlight!
Other highlights of the month were getting to soak up time with our nephews. I have really enjoyed the pace of our lives these last few months. With less on the calendar we have really been able to soak up quality time with friends and family here in Birmingham.
Our recent donut date was one of my favorites! Saturday mornings are my favorite time of the week. Especially when I spend it with these two guys...

  1. Did you go to the gourd place in Helen? Did you remember that you'd been there once before? Love the shot of E in his boots!
