Summer Nights + Peanut Butter Cookies

I don't think there is anything better than a laid back summer night. Especially a summer night hanging out with family. A few times a year, Fletcher and Matt like to make a fire in our backyard. They let the burn pile stack up, then they find a night to burn it. Ab and I just enjoy the extra sister time, while they enjoy the boy time outside.
However, not all the boys are old enough to participate in the fire nights.

While the boys were outside, we made some peanut butter cookies inside. I made these cookies last week for my Noonday party and we had a little bit of the peanut butter cookie dough to finish off.
 My taste tester approved!

Peanut Butter Cookies:
*Recipe from Bakerella
1 & 1/2 cups AP Flour
3/4 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 cup Sugar
1 egg
2 tsp Vanilla

Preheat oven to 350. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt with a whisk and set aside. Beat softened butter and peanut butter together in the mixer. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Slowly, add in flour mixture. Roll dough into 1-1&1/2 inch balls. Press cookie balls into a mini muffin pan (lining the sides of the muffin cup). Bake for 8-9 minutes. While the cookies are in the oven, unwrap your reese's cups. When the cookies come out of the oven, immediately press reese's cups into center of the cookie. Place in the freezer to harden.

Style your friends, Change the world

Y'all. This week I had my Noonday launch party and it was so much fun! Twenty of my sweet friends came over to celebrate the start of my new business and to learn more about Noonday.

It was so fun to see my friends gush over the Noonday pieces and to know that their purchases are creating opportunity all over the world.
The party wouldn't have happened without these three! They helped me pull everything together in the last few minutes!

The bone carved leaf earrings were one of my best sellers.  These earrings are made by an artisan co-op in India that helps low-income artisans move towards economic self-sufficiency.

The beaded statement bracelet (above) and embira seed bracelet (below) are both made by the artisan group in Uganda, African style. African Style is run by Jalia and David - a married couple who love God and love people. They have a passion to care for the widow and the oppressed by teaching them a skill that can provide a sustainable income and disciplining them in God's word. The wooden trays are made in Guatemala.

And last, but not least. I think this bag might just be my favorite. My catch all bag was on back order for a while. It just came in last week and oh.my.goodness. I am loving it.
I am so thankful for all my friends who have shared in my Noonday excitement.  It is so fun to start this new chapter, and to do it surrounded by my sweet friends!

Lemon Blueberry Muffin Bread

I am LOVING lemon desserts/sweets these days. Because of my lemon love, this recipe for lemon blueberry muffin bread caught my eye. I found the recipe on one of my favorite blogs, eat live run. This recipe would be great if you were having friends for breakfast or brunch, or just as a weekend treat. It will definitely be in our regular rotation this summer.    The only thing I added to this recipe, was a lemon glaze at the end (because I have an unhealthy lemon love).

Lemon Blueberry Muffin Bread
2 cups all purpose flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups blueberries (12 oz)
2 tsp lemon zest
*½ cup plain yogurt, regular or lowfat
*I used Greek yogurt, and it was great!

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together your flour, baking powder and salt. Add the blueberries and lemon zest and toss to combine.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the yogurt then the dry ingredients, mixing only until incorporated and being careful not to crush the blueberries.
  4. Scoop batter into your prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour 10 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting gently onto a plate.
When the bread came out of the oven, I poured a lemon glaze over the bread (then still let it cool for 10 minutes). I used the same lemon glaze I used for my lemon cookies at Easter.

Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
4-5 tsp. fresh lemon juice

Vacation Part 3

I wrapped up my vacation with a weekend in Memphis to celebrate two brides.
Saturday morning Lacey had a wedding shower. Only 6 more weeks until she is a Moody!

Saturday night Katey & Justin got married at the Dixon. It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony.

I got to spend LOTS of time Saturday with these sweet high school friends. It was wonderful!

"The Core" back together again. Congratulations Katey & Justin!

Summer Vacation

This weekend wraps up my one week vacation. Y'all....a week off has made me a new person. I haven't taken a full week vacation (other than getting married) since I started working 3 years ago. It was time. The last 7 months at work have been busy, and this was such a great week of relaxation.  I kicked off my vacation with a weekend at the beach with my best friends, not a bad way to start a vacation.
This was the first trip with all our boys. Everyone is either married or engaged. It was so much fun getting to hang out all together. We all chose wisely, because all the boys fit in perfectly with the BH group :)
We celebrated our bride best friend, and just soaked up time with each other.

After the wedding weekend, Fletch and I stayed to enjoy a little vacay, just the two of us. It was wonderful! Long overdue and so much fun. We ate delicious food and just relaxed on the beach.

Tuesday my scorched skin needed a little break. We went to the Seaside farmer's market and then spent the rest of the morning strolling around Rosemary Beach.
This trip, we tried multiple new restaurants. I had two favorites...Stinky's Fish Camp & V Seagrove. We caught Stinky's on Taco Tuesday. I couldn't resist the shrimp, but Fletcher ordered a medley of fish tacos.
We went to V Seagrove on our last night...such a treat!

I had the Mahi Mahi with a goat cheese grit cake and a scallion aioli. Fletcher ordered the Pork tenderloin with a strawberry boot beer barbecue sauce and macaroni and cheese scuffle. We both cleaned our plates, but when we saw the dessert menu, we couldn't resist. We ordered the iron skillet bacon dark chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream. Oh my. It was delicious. I'm still thinking about it.

We fully enjoyed our time at the beach. The weather, food, and company were all perfect. When we returned from the beach, my vacation continued. I spent one day at home, recharging before hitting the road again for the last portion of my break. A day off at home should never be underestimated. I watched the Today show while drinking my morning coffee, went to lunch with my mother in law, went and got popsicles with a friend, and even squeezed in some laundry and cleaning. I feel like I have made the most of these vacation days, and I'm not ready for them to end! Today, I head to Memphis to wrap up my vacation time. Stay tuned!

Anna + Ryan

This past weekend we travelled to Santa Rosa beach to celebrate one of my dearest friend's wedding. Anna and Ryan went on their first date to Junior Prom. It has been so neat to watch their relationship develop over the years, and it was such a joy to celebrate this sweet couple.
Celebrating the night before.

Anna was such a beautiful bride! Glowing all day long! We spent the morning watching her get ready.
The wedding was at Eden State Park in Santa Rosa.

Wedding date.
BH + Husbands/fiances
Their first dance was one of the highlights of the evening...
Ryan's family has a blueberry farm in Dothan. Instead of a groom's cake, they had a blueberry table full of different blueberry desserts.
These two are next!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Brooks! We are so excited for you!!!
