"This Night is Sparkling, Don't you let it go..."

It is hard for me to put in to words all the happiness that happened this weekend. One of the things I love most is getting quality time with my friends. This weekend I got to see my college friends and my high school friends all in one weekend! And the weekend was filled with great things! First off, let me introduce you to my friend Julie. Julie and Jeff have dated for years, and Jeff has always wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail. In May, Julie graduated with her masters and moved back to Memphis, and Jeff wrapped up everything in Knoxville and began his hike from Georgia to Maine. I seriously can't imagine. Jeff was projected to finish in October, but he was making such great progress that he was able to finish in mid-September. Julie hiked with him for a few days in May, and then they got to see each other for a wedding in June, but then they didn't see each other the rest of the time. Seeing each other for the first time in 3 months is exciting in itself, but Jeff couldn't contain himself anymore and proposed on Saturday when he saw Julie. Julie was shocked! Which is huge, because she is really hard to surprise. We were all waiting at Jeff's parents house when they got back. Jeff needs to get some kind of award for coordinating an engagement while in the wilderness! I was so happy to be there to celebrate with them.

They are the cutest!

Jeff's birthday happened while he was on the trail so Julie gave him his present on Saturday when he got back. It is kind of hard to see in this picture but she got a map of the Appalachian Trail and then sewed in red thread the path he walked from Georgia to Maine. She sewed the part of the trail that they did together in yellow. Such a thoughtful gift! I wish I had a better picture of it. It was a great afternoon filled with people who love Julie and Jeff!

Now, on to part two of Saturday: Taylor Swift Concert with the Beach House. We bought our tickets on February 1st so you can imagine the excitement that has built in the last 7 months. This concert was the biggest production I have ever seen! Acrobats, ballerinas, fireworks, guest appearances, etc...It was quite the show! We loved every minute of it!

Phone quality pic of Taylor flying around the arena during "Love Story." She was "close enough to throw a water bottle at her" according to Anna.

Another added bonus to the night...Needtobreathe! They opened up for Taylor Swift and directed people to the Merchandise stand where the first 180 people could get wrist bands for a meet and greet after the concert. We jumped up and ran to get the wristbands. Kree, Lacey, Sarah, and Leah all got wristbands and Anna and I stepped up to the table right after Sarah and Leah, only to hear that they were out of wristbands. SO SAD. We had confidence that our cute and convincing friends might be able to talk the security guard in to letting us slip in with them. Well, cute and convincing had no effect on the cranky security lady that was standing at the door where you went in. So Anna and I waited outside for them. We had been sitting there a while when a different security guard came and told us they were clearing the building. We were getting up to walk out when we saw Sarah, Leah, Lace, and Kree walking out of the fan center with Needtobreathe right behind them! Turns out our cute and convincing friends had an effect on the band! They told them how two of their friends didn't get wristbands so the band came out and met us. It was so exciting! And quite the happy surprise!

  1. Remember when we saw Taylor Swift opening for Rascal Flatts? She's come a long way!

  2. this makes me want to hike the Appalachian Trail.

and WHAT a wonderful gift--the map with the personalized trail. Wow. So sweet and thoughtful!
