Chocolate Peppermint Striped Delight

I was so happy yesterday to use my kitchen-aid mixer for the first time and to make a holiday dessert! With everything going on I haven't baked at all since we got married and I've been missing it a lot! This recipe turned out really yummy and is great for the holidays!

First I crushed up vanilla wafers and mixed it with melted butter and 2 tbsp. sugar, then I pressed it into the bottom of a 9x13 pan and put it in the refrigerator.

Crush up 1/4 cup candy canes...

Set aside 1/2 cup of sugar...

Beat cream cheese and sugar together until smooth. Then add 2 Tbsp. milk and beat until blended. Turn off the mixer and stir in peppermint by hand. Then add 1 and 1/4 cup cool whip...

Then spread the cream cheese mixture over the crust, then put back in the refrigerator...

Beat chocolate pudding and 3 cups milk with whisk for 2 minutes. Pour over cream cheese layer and let stand for 5 minutes...

After the pudding layer has set spread remaining cool whip over the top.

Refrigerate for 4 hours, then take it out, top with crushed candy canes and serve!

We took ours out a little early (Fletch doesn't like waiting on desserts) so I think that accounts for the messiness of the final product! But it was delicious!!

45 NILLA Wafers, finely crushed (about 1-1/2 cups)
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar, divided
1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, softened

1/4 cup finely crushed candy canes
1 tub (12 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
