"I Just Want You to Know..."

Today is Lacey's 22nd birthday! As always I am very excited to celebrate the birthday of my very best friend. However, this year it feels a little bit bittersweet as it may mark the end of a 6 year streak. Since our birthdays are so close together, Lacey and I have celebrated every birthday together since we turned 17. For the big birthdays (18 and 21) we celebrated our birthdays together, but whether it has been together or separately I have been celebrating with Lacey for the past 6 years. As I celebrate her 22nd birthday I realize I want to soak every minute of it up, in case, for some reason, I can't be with her the day she turns 23.

Lacey is by far the best friend anyone could ask for. She has been exactly what I needed over the years. She has always been right by my side, whether she was laughing with me or crying with me. In high school we spent endless hours riding around in "Kevin" asking the dramatic question "What is my life?" and we spent many Friday nights in the hot tub with all our friends playing silly games and talking about boys. Senior year we shared every off campus lunch, a tiny room on the cruise, homecoming, spirit court, prom, and our last first day of school. In college we have shared probably 1000 meals together, many "Happy Sweet Tea Days", ChiO socials and formals, every spring break, every new years eve, ran our first half-marathon together, taken trips to the lake, and most importantly we have been roommates for the past 4 years. Lacey is loyal, generous, kind-hearted, wise, sensitive, and sweet. I can't imagine the past 7 years of my life without her, and I can hardly think about what it is going to be like to have hundreds of miles between us after May. Happy Happy Birthday Lace! And in the words of the backstreet boys "I just want you to know" you are the best friend anyone could ask for!

  1. Sweet Lacey! Happy Birthday to you!!!!

  2. I remember the day I met Lacey. I was bringing you lunch at ECS. She is just the b-e-s-t!
